Impressionism

Impressionism

Impressionism.. I have been most inspired by the art style impressionism. There have been and will forever be amazing artists creating impressionism. There is a wonderful history to this art style.

Impressionism is a 19th century art movement that originated with a group of Paris-based artists. Their independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870’s and 1880’s, in spite of harsh opposition from the conventional art community in France. –Wikipedia

I create impressionism style art with my digital techniques, Let’s call it digital impressionism. Traditionally, impressionist do express with a particular type of brush stroke and an accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities. I’m breaking tradition, I use computer software to make a particular type of look instead of paint and brush, but I use these tools to accurately depict light in its changing qualities. Though my tools are very different, I attempt to keep the original idea.

I switched to digital art about a year ago because I could no longer hold my paintbrush without pain. The button pushing required for digital artistry is much easier on my hands. At first, I did consider it cheating to make digital art instead of painting but now that I know how much knowledge it takes to design digitally. I have a healthy respect. I’ve learned so much over the past year and there’s still much more to learn. The act of creating art is wonderful for me whether it’s with computer software or paint and brush.
