Design tools for newbie website developers.. Going to share a few of my favorite site tools. As Craig Grannell of .net says,” it’s been a year of design shifts, evolving device usage, and web consumption adjustments, all of which will impact on designers and developers.” Times they are a changing. 2012 was full of change with website standardization definitions and best practices. 2013 was the year of enacting that standardization and now that it’s 2014, I believe we will see a more unified structuring and universal, easy to use tools to help us achieve and keep that structure.

I suggest reading the article released recently by .net titled, 20 must-know web design and development trends for 2013… I checked out the must-do-list to see if my site was up to standards and on the cutting edge of today’s technology. I had lots of improving to do. User interface has changed, it is now a world of touch and slide. How does this play into your site as it stands? Does your CSS system have the ability to stand up next to the sites most popular now? I think interactive websites will be the future if not already. Giving your visitor something to do is always a great idea, give them something to do while educating and informing in a fun way and you’ve got yourself a grand idea.

I’m going to read the article and see if RWD Responsive Web Design, Multi-Device Design, Learner, performance-focused websites and all the rest that .net has to share,  is a good direction for my internet presence. I know my site does comply with the standards of yesterday, but does it comply with the standards of today?

That all seems difficult to the newbie website designer. But there are a few things you can do today that are not at all difficult. I enjoy giving a website an artistic edge. There are many tricks and tips for logos, images, shortcodes and more I can share with you. Especially if you are a beginner at web design and development. I am a newbie so it’s easier to help another newbie learn. I know a little something about SEO as well and can get you started on the right foot when creating a new site or updating an old site. Standardization has made the job of SEO much easier and the guidelines are within reach for the beginner to average user.

Page Division: Creating a division of space in a page or post is easy. In this post, I created the division by merely adding the image to the post from the media library and sizing it according to space allotment. I will also demonstrate the use of page division on the post called Design Tools, Page Division.

In this post, I am using a one_half and last one_half code to post the page’s text and image. You can access this tool on the WordPress edit box after choosing to view your editor with the ‘Text’ tab in the upper right hand corner. The other choice is ‘Visual’. You may divide your page or post into any number of division combinations. You can have three separate defined spaces in what is typically one space. In that case you would choose one third for the first area, two third for the second and one third last for the third area. Easy!
